On the afternoon of April 30, Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology, met with US Ambassador to China Branstad at the China National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases (hereinafter referred to as the “National Center”).The two sides conducted joint research on the National Center, the National Center for Healthcare Quality Management in Neurological Diseases, the establishment of the Neurological Artificial Intelligence Research Center, and the Sino-US cooperation project case.
In the National Center on the 5th floor of the Administration and Scientific Research Building of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Zhao Jizong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the National Center, Wang Yongjun, deputy director of the National Center and executive vice president of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, led the leaders and guests to participate in the research.Wang Yongjun introduced the overall situation of the construction and operation of the National Center to the representatives of China and the United States, as well as two project cases jointly carried out by China and the United States.
Subsequently, Chinese and American personnel came to the exhibition hall of the National Center for Neurological Diseases Medical Quality Research Center, which is also the main platform for cooperation between the National Center and the American Heart Association (AHA).The exhibition hall displayed real-time monitoring data of quality control of nervous system diseases from 2774 hospitals in 31 provinces of China. Through these data, Wang Yongjun introduced the status of medical quality of neurological diseases in China and the changes of relevant quality control indicators. And in cooperation with the US AHA, the project of Improve: Stroke Care (Cerebrovascular Disease Medical Quality Improvement Research).
As the world's first specialized agency for artificial intelligence research on nervous system diseases, the Artificial Intelligence Research Center for Neurological Diseases, established on December 22, 2017, attracted representatives from both China and the United States to stop.The center is currently working on artificial intelligence research and application research, including imaging diagnosis, pathology, clinical assistant decision-making, medical rehabilitation, and disease prediction, prevention, and prognosis.
Minister Wang Zhigang and Ambassador Branstad spoke highly of the results of the National Center’s cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and big data.Before the end of the visit, representatives from both sides took a group photo in front of the National Center.
